Design & Build

I have a white silver color variant and it looks very beautiful, its weight is about 1.4 kg and it feels so light. If you want a laptop for the office or college, this is one of the best laptops available. It has HP branding on top, air exhaust vents, and a window sticker on the backside. There is a rubber grip on the upper and lower parts of the back and speaker grills at the left and right sides.

You will not get a full-sized keyboard in this one is 14 inches laptop. The finishing and trackpad size is good. A webcam is also available. It comes with a lifetime free microsoft office subscription, that’s one of the reasons why I was suggesting you this laptop.

Display

It comes with 45% NTSC, 250 nits brightness, and an antiglare coating. The brightness will be a limiting experience. It has very thin bezels that look amazing.

Boot Time

The screen refresh rate is 60 Hz.

Fingerprint Scanner

It also has a fingerprint scanner, I have added my fingerprint. It unlocks within seconds and it is 90% accurate. I would be able to unlock quick quickly.

Keyboard

It comes with single white color backlight and it has 720P webcam, I plugged in the charger when it was 30% and it was charged 70% within 20 minutes, i.e. it supports fast charging. And obviously after 70% laptop charges slower. The charging speed of the laptop varies according to battery level.

I genuinely enjoy typing in the keyboard. I have zero issues in adapting to it and I think most coders will appreciate it. The key travel is good. One complaint that I did have is the lighting. I mean it is pretty obvious that white bite light on a silver keyboard is never going to work and that is still the case here.

Below the keyboard, we have a touchpad that is fairly big enough to accommodate all five fingers and palm rejection is very well on this.

This laptop has 14 inches screen size and so lightweight just like a notebook.

Processor

It has an intel core i5 1135G7 processor which has base clock of 2.40 GHZ, and Boot Clock of 4.2 GHz. On paper specifications are good with 10 mm architecture, Now I know the students love to play games on laptops and I would have love to say yes you can play some games. You can play but this is not a gaming laptop. You can get budget gaming laptop around this price tag. You can change the RAM and as well as the SSD and even the wifi card of this laptop.

Wireless Connectivity

It has wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5, it also comes with built-in Alexa.

Performance

I have tested this laptop in different ways like I tested Photoshop, and I designed my line streams thumbnail. The experience was very smooth, I didn’t had any issues. Then I tested the premier pro in this, I edited the gaming parts of this some videos. The performance was good and justifiable in this budget. You can also use Filmora for more smoother experience.

In multitasking, and web browsing it performed well as it has 16GB 3200 RAM. So the overall experience was amazing. I also tested Pubg lite on low graphics, I was getting more than 130 FPS, but the game is running on 6FPS only as display s of 60Hz. I know both these games are not that much heavy but still considering it to be a thin and light laptop, the performance it gives it simply awesome. I tested GTA 5 on low medium setting, I was getting 30+ FPS which is acceptable.

Battery Life

In a thin and light laptop battery backup also matters. Yesterday, I used this for 95% and after using it for 3.5 hours it dropped down to 20%. So overall the backup is good. It has a 43 Whr battery and the processor also belongs to the “U” series that’s why the overall power consumption is less. Surely you can get 6 to 6.5 hours purely on battery-saving mode but that’s not the way most use the laptop.

Ports

Let’s jump into ports, On the left side a headphone and mic jack combo and one USB type A 3.2 port. On the right side, you get a power input port, one HDMI port, one USB type A 3.2 port, and one mini SD card slot. It doesn’t has a macro SD card slot, you have to purchase a card reader for that, I used my One Plus charger in the type C port it doesn’t charge. I don’t know whether it supports charging through the type C port or not.

Screen Speakers

The speakers are also quite good. At the end of the day when you are using a laptop on a flat surface the audio sounds good but use it anywhere the audio is quite awful. It would be decently loud but the experience isn’t that great.
